As a long-time fan of the Star Wars franchise, I walked into the theater with high expectations for The Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately, my anticipation didn't quite match the reality of the movie. While it's not a complete disaster, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment as I left the cinema.

In retrospect, I think lowering my expectations made a big difference in how I felt about the film. Each of the previous two trilogies had their own unique conclusions, and The Rise of Skywalker is simply the final chapter of this third trilogy. It's not meant to be a grand finale for an entire saga; it's just a conclusion to this particular story arc.

That being said, I didn't love The Rise of Skywalker. It didn't blow me away or leave me feeling like I'd just witnessed something truly special. As someone who's been a fan of Star Wars since the 1970s, it's always jarring for me when I don't adore a new installment in the franchise.

In the end, while The Rise of Skywalker may not be the most memorable or impactful conclusion to this trilogy, it doesn't betray the spirit of the franchise either. It's just...fine. And who knows? Maybe with some time and reflection, my opinion will change. But for now, I'm left feeling like there was a missed opportunity to create something truly remarkable.
